BJP Hands Nitin Nabin Key Mission for 2027 Polls

The BJP’s top two leaders are showing full confidence in the party’s young president, Nitin Nabin. They are equipping their new president with political maneuvers and complex electoral strategies. In the coming year, i.e., 2027, assembly elections are due in at least 7 states: Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, and Manipur. The BJP high command has given Nabin the important responsibility of immediately starting work to remove any kind of discrepancies at the booth level. He has been asked to assess the organizational strength of the party at the grassroots level and prepare an impartial report. He should make a comprehensive assessment of the party’s strengths and weaknesses at the booth level, identify the shortcomings, and suggest remedies. Nabin has been specially instructed to focus on the role of Panna Pramukhs (page in-charges), establish direct communication with them, and immediately begin the initiative to create an aware team of BJP workers at the Panna (booth cluster) level. He has also been told to engage ground-level agencies right away to study the deficiencies in booth management. After receiving the necessary feedback, he should sit with local influencers, local workers, and enlightened leaders to prepare a dossier for formulating new strategies so that the party’s booth management becomes far better than before. Additionally, an important task assigned to Nabin is to prepare a seat-wise list of the party’s probable candidates. Several criteria for this selection have already been decided. Nabin’s team is working on sharpening these standards further. Key parameters for selecting probable candidates include: How popular is the candidate in his area? What are his winning prospects? How well does he “fit” with local factors, etc. Clearly, this step is an important part of the BJP’s central policy, under which it wants to further strengthen its various organizations before the 2027 elections.

Nabin Finalizing His New Team

More than six months have passed since Nitin Nabin took over as the new BJP president, but he has so far been working with the old team (Nadda’s team). However, it is being said that President Nabin has now prepared the blueprint of his new team, and its announcement may come in the coming days. It is also being speculated that most of the old faces will continue in Nabin’s new team. Earlier, there were reports that Sunil Bansal, who proved his mettle in the Bengal elections, would replace B.L. Santhosh as the new National General Secretary (Organization). But it is being said that the RSS is in favor of giving Santhosh more opportunities, so he will not be disturbed. Vinod Tawde’s position as General Secretary is also likely to remain safe. The team may get a new General Secretary in the form of Ram Madhav. The biggest sticking point is regarding giving a significant role to a Brahmin face in the party organization. One faction of the party is pushing the name of former Bihar Minister Mangal Pandey for this quota, while Sushil Trivedi is currently seen leading the race as PM Modi’s personal choice. Notably, there has already been a prior clash between Mangal Pandey and Nitin Nabin. During a meeting to select ministers in the Samrat Cabinet in Bihar, Mangal Pandey was pushing the name of Alok Kumar Singh, MLA from Dinara, Rohtas, who had won on a ticket of Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha. Vinod Tawde had vetoed Mangal Pandey’s suggestion in the meeting. Tawde said, “Ashok Singh represents a genuine Rajput face from the Shahabad region.” Nabin countered that “We already have Sanjay Tiger from this area.” Tawde replied that “Tiger’s performance as a minister has not been very impressive.” To this, Nabin said, “How can you judge any leader’s performance in just three months?” It is worth noting that Sanjay Tiger has worked with Nitin Nabin since their ABVP (student wing) days.

Why Are the Appointments of Judges in Patna High Court Stuck?

Tridib Raman

Even though the Supreme Court Collegium gave its green signal on 26 February 2026, the matter of appointing 9 judges to the Patna High Court is still hanging in limbo. All of them are advocates who have received approval for appointment as judges. It is believed that the file is still stuck in the Law Ministry. Reliable sources cite two reasons for the delay in implementing this list: The first name in the list of these nine proposed judges is that of a Muslim advocate from Patna High Court  Mohammad Nadeem Siraj. Sources say that his name had been sent to Delhi for approval twice before as well, but for some reasons, it did not get the green signal, even though he is counted among Patna’s most capable lawyers.People in Bihar feel that the Bihar list is being deliberately kept pending so that judges’ appointments in other states’ High Courts can be made swiftly in the meantime. Naturally, this could cause Bihar High Court judges to lag behind in seniority during the journey up to the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, some sources close to the Central Government disclose that the government has objections regarding some names in the list of these nine people. Therefore, only some selected names from it will be notified.

Mamata’s Women MPs May Rebel

Ever since the BJP’s political chariot has started galloping in Bengal, the party’s political ambitions have reached new heights. According to sources, a major split in Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress may be engineered in the coming days. Preparations for this are already underway. A large section of Trinamool leaders was already unhappy with Abhishek Banerjee’s authoritarian style. Kalyan Banerjee has now completed what was left. Kalyan Banerjee anyway does not go down well with Mamata’s women MPs. He had made some highly indecent remarks regarding Mahua Moitra’s lawyer Pinaki Mishra. Earlier too, he had publicly clashed with Mahua, due to which the party had removed him from the whip post. TMC has 28 MPs in the Lok Sabha, out of which 11 are women. Sources say that ever since Mamata replaced Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar with Kalyan Banerjee as the Lok Sabha Chief Whip, the women MPs have been upset with “Didi” because there are allegations of misbehavior against Kalyan with women MPs. So, if there is a split in Trinamool, several women MPs may also rebel.

Will DMK Also Join Hands with BJP?

On the other hand, after suffering a heavy defeat at the hands of TVK, not everything is normal within the DMK. Ever since Congress announced support for Vijay, DMK has distanced itself from Congress. It no longer wants to sit next to Congress even in the House. The party has already told the Lok Sabha Speaker to make arrangements for its MPs to sit separately from Congress. It is worth noting that DMK has 22 Lok Sabha MPs and 8 Rajya Sabha MPs. This time, it won 59 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly and 5 in Puducherry. There is also a section within DMK that wants the party to openly come out in support of the BJP. DMK leaders Raja and Kanimozhi are advocating for this. It is perhaps out of anger over this that Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi made such a strong statement against Sanatan Dharma. Meanwhile, party chief Stalin is not believed to be in favor of aligning with the BJP. He clearly believes that “Although DMK is a regional party, it is the flag-bearer of Dravidian identity and a strong advocate of social justice and state autonomy. Therefore, such parties should not be seen on the same platform as the BJP, at least.”

Buzz Around ED Succession

There is strong speculation that Rahul Navin will be replaced as ED chief. The name doing the rounds is that of IRS officer Manish Kumar, who is currently the Chief Commissioner of Delhi Customs. Earlier, he worked as Director of International Customs. He is a very low-profile officer and is also the younger brother of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He is said to possess great expertise in investigation and intelligence gathering. He completed his education from Hindu College, Delhi, and later obtained an LLB degree in International Law and Taxation from Delhi University. He has given more than two decades to government service.Rahul Navin is retiring from his post in August 2026.
