PM Modi Pushes for “Viksit Bharat” at NITI Aayog Meet

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today chaired the 10th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, emphasizing the need for states to collaborate with the Union government as “Team India” to achieve the vision of a developed India by 2047. This crucial meeting, held under the theme “Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat 2047,” marks the Prime Minister’s first major engagement with state Chief Ministers since the successful “Operation Sindoor,” which neutralized terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir following the recent Pahalgam attack.
During the session, Prime Minister Modi strongly advocated for a “one state, one global destination” approach, urging states to develop at least one tourist destination with world-class facilities and infrastructure. He stressed the importance of building “future-ready” cities and fostering development at every level, from states to villages, stating, “If we work on these lines, we will not have to wait till 2047 to become Viksit Bharat.”
The Prime Minister highlighted that policies should directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens, fostering a sense of ownership that transforms change into a nationwide movement. He underscored the “great opportunity as a team to fulfill the aspirations of 140 crore people.”
The NITI Aayog statement reiterated the Prime Minister’s commitment to states leveraging their unique strengths for grassroots-level transformative changes, ensuring the aspirations of 140 crore citizens translate into tangible results.
The 10th Governing Council meeting served as a vital platform for the Centre, states, and Union Territories to deliberate on the development challenges facing India. A key objective was to build consensus on how states can become the fundamental building blocks for a developed India.
Discussions also focused on promoting entrepreneurship, enhancing skilling initiatives, and creating sustainable employment opportunities nationwide. The Prime Minister further advocated for policies that respectfully integrate women into the workforce, emphasizing the importance of their inclusion.
The Governing Council, the apex body of NITI Aayog chaired by the Prime Minister, saw the attendance of Chief Ministers and Lieutenant Governors from states and Union Territories, several Union Ministers, and the Vice-Chairman, Members, and CEO of NITI Aayog. The Prime Minister concluded by stating that growth, innovation, and sustainability should be the driving forces for the development of India’s cities.
