An IndiGo flight from Goa to Indore was forced to make an emergency landing at Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport after a hydraulic failure in its landing gear system. All 140 passengers on board are safe.
Flight Circled for 45 Minutes Before Emergency Landing
The aircraft (flight number undisclosed) had taken off from Goa at 3:14 PM but encountered issues with its undercarriage hydraulic system while approaching Indore. The pilot alerted Air Traffic Control (ATC) about an “undercarriage warning”, indicating potential landing gear malfunction.
As a precaution, the plane circled the airport 7-8 times to burn fuel and reduce weight before attempting the emergency landing. Fire brigades and emergency teams were put on standby. The flight finally landed safely at 5:08 PM.
What is an Undercarriage Warning?
- Indicates landing gear may not be functioning correctly (not fully extended/locked).
- Triggered by hydraulic system failure, sensor errors, or mechanical faults.
- A critical alert requiring immediate pilot action to avoid landing risks.
